MONCTON, N.B. — The New Brunswick government is partnering with youth orchestral music organization Sistema and international bestselling author Dan Brown to treat local students to performances from Brown’s latest project, ‘Wild Symphony’ this June.

Launched in 2020, ‘Wild Symphony’ is a mixed-medium educational story consisting of symphonic music, poetry, a mobile phone app and a children’s picture book.

The 44-page interactive book tells the story of Maestro Mouse as he meets and makes musical friends on his journey — each with a secret to share. When pages are scanned with the app, readers can listen to one of the original music recorded for each.

Roughly 5,000 New Brunswick students will be attending one of four live performances by Brown and the Sistema New Brunswick Children’s Orchestra between June 11-12.

“Our mission at Sistema New Brunswick is to inspire children and youth to achieve their full potential through learning and performing orchestral music,” said orchestra founder Ken MacLeod.

“The opportunity to collaborate with Mr. Brown is an incredible achievement for our young musicians and their hard-working instructors.”

Livestreamed performances will also be made available in both English and French.

The New Brunswick curriculum and event livestream will also be shared with the Sistema Canada Network and El Sistema USA, encompassing more than 150 programs and tens of thousands of children and youth in North America.
