Leadership with New Town School District sent a press release to parents and guardians in the district Wednesday confirming that the school went into a hard lockdown Tuesday following a situation involving “several students” and that law enforcement was “promptly” notified.

The district also said that, while they recognize the importance of keeping families informed and being transparent, they are respecting the privacy of those involved so as not to compromise the investigation.

“Rest assured, we are working closely with the authorities to manage the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available and can be shared. The safety of our students and staff is our utmost priority, and we are committed to maintaining a secure learning environment,” said district leadership in part, in the press release.
