Washington Mom, 38, Dies in Her Van Enroute Homeschool Activity with Her Kids: Tragic Details

A loving wife and mom was killed alongside three of her close friends’ kids in a tragic car crash. Her two children, who were also in the vehicle, survived but are struggling to fight for their lives.

At approximately 12:45 PM on March 19, 2024, Andrea Hudson, a devoted mother, was navigating a suburban road close to their home when a speeding vehicle struck hers. She took her two children, Nolan and Charlotte Hudson, along with three other children, to a homeschooling activity when their journey ended abruptly and violently.

The King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) 911 Communications Center received the distressing call about the collision, which occurred at the intersection of SE 192nd Street & 140th Ave SE in Unincorporated King County Renton, Washington.

Responding swiftly, deputies and aid units from the Puget Sound Fire Authority arrived at the scene to find a chaotic and heart-wrenching sight—four vehicles entangled, multiple victims in need of urgent care, and, most tragically, four individuals who could not be saved.

The other vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old male and traveling at a staggering speed of around 90 miles per hour, collided with Andrea’s van.

Unfortunately, the collision claimed the lives of Andrea and the three children of her close friends: 13-year-old Matilda Wilcoxson, 12-year-old Eloise Wilcoxson, and 12-year-old Boyd Buster Brown. Jessica Brown, Buster’s mother, was a co-leader at the homeschooling group with Andrea.

Meanwhile, Nolan and Charlotte Hudson have survived and received medical attention at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The children are reported to be in critical condition within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), fighting for their lives after being critically injured in the collision.

Abe Hudson, the father of Nolan and Charlotte, has been continuously by their side, closely monitoring their medical progress. Initially, Abe was told that Charlotte did not survive the crash. However, in a turn of events, it was discovered she was still alive upon arrival at the hospital, a fact that has been described as a “miraculous turn of events” by family members.

Isaac Smith, Andrea Hudson’s brother, has provided a brief update on the children’s condition, stating, “[Charlotte and Nolan] are making small baby steps, and we’re praying for full recovery.” The medical team is engaged in extensive efforts to treat the siblings, whose survival has brought a glimmer of hope amidst the tragedy.

The aftermath of this calamity has left a void in the hearts of those who knew Andrea and the young lives she was accompanying. Their untimely deaths serve as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the devastating consequences of reckless driving.

Her husband, Abe, is grappling with profound grief over the loss of his wife, his high-school sweethearts, and the mother of his three children — 14-year-old Nolan, 12-year-old Charlotte and 8-year-old Jude.

In the wake of this devastating loss, the Hudson family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to gather financial support for the children’s medical expenses and Andrea’s funeral costs. This effort aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced during this incredibly challenging time.

Further expressing the family’s sorrow, Andrea’s brother, Ben Hudson, turned to social media to share the heartbreak and seek communal support. On his Facebook page, Ben posted, “Words cannot express the sadness we feel and the void in our hearts, but we take faith in knowing that Andrea is still with us in spirit and that we will be reunited again.”

As the Hudson family navigates through this period of mourning and recovery, the outpouring of support from friends, family, and the wider community reflects the impact Andrea had on those around her and the collective desire to support the family through their journey of grief and healing.

Meanwhile, the 18-year-old driver responsible for the devastating car accident remains in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). According to officials, the young driver is expected to face criminal charges once an investigation into the crash is completed.

The exact cause of the accident is still under examination, but Sgt. Eric White, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, suggested that speed may have been a contributing factor.

In a remarkable expression of empathy amidst their own profound loss, Chace Wilcoxson, speaking on behalf of the affected families, extended a message of unconditional forgiveness towards the young man whose actions led to this tragedy. Wilcoxson stated that he believes in forgiveness, urging the community to join them in prayer for the driver’s recovery and reflection on the incident.

Wilcoxson also advocated for a thorough investigation of the intersection where the crash occurred, highlighting a history of fatal accidents in the area. He emphasized the importance of implementing changes to prevent future tragedies.

Another tragic event recently occurred when a freak accident killed a man at his own engagement party. A 29-year-old policeman Liam Trimmer suffered a fatal fall, casting a shadow over the celebration.

The incident occurred as Liam, alongside his fiancée, an Australian nurse named Lisa, and their loved ones, were gathered to celebrate their engagement. A misstep led to Liam sustaining a severe neck injury that, despite immediate attempts to save him, proved fatal.

Liam, known for his dedication as a police officer and his imminent role as a husband, was remembered by Commissioner Col Blanch as a wonderful officer with a bright future cruelly cut short.

Having moved to Australia from the UK and joined the Joondalup Police Academy in 2013, Trimmer became not just a respected member of the police force but also a cherished community figure and rugby enthusiast in Kalgoorlie since 2017.

Senior Constable Liam’s loss reverberates through his personal circles and the broader Western Australian police community. Tributes poured in, highlighting his commitment to service and the profound impact of his passing.
